You can check the status of a refund online with the IRS and with the Ohio Department of Taxation. Have a copy of your return handy. You will need your Social Security number, your filing status and the exact refund amount shown on the return.
Federal refund
The IRS updates its refund tool once a day. Information is generally available within 24 hours after an e-filed return is accepted, or about four weeks after a paper return is mailed.
Ohio refund
The Ohio Department of Taxation offers a similar lookup for state income tax refunds.
